Anthem Says No Anesthesiologists Needed in Routine Cataract Surgery
Anthem will no longer cover anesthesiologist care in routine cataract surgeries, the company announced this month with a new clinical guideline. The guideline, published on Feb. 1, noted that both “monitored anesthesia care or general anesthesia for cataract surgery is considered not medically necessary” in most cases.”
